Reading Astronomical Monthly (RAM)

RAM is a free monthly newsletter which is distributed at the meetings. It contains details of upcoming society events and has the night sky highlights for the month ahead. It also features a deep sky object of the month. It is published just before the main meeting and covers the period up to the following main meeting. i.e. March 2004 covers the period 20 Mar - 17 Apr.

Mercury
The innermost planet has its best morning apparition of 2008 in late October. Look for it low in the east before dawn, especially on the 27th October when a slender crescent Moon will be close by

Uranus & Neptune
The outer two planets are well placed for spotting during September and October. You can follow their daily movements using binoculars. Finder charts can be found at Sky & Telescope
