Public Observing - 28th and 29th March 2008 - Poster

Reading Astronomical Society organises regular public observing evenings.

Two nights of free public observing are planned at Dinton Pastures Country Park on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March 2008. We will have a variety of telescopes to look through and this will be an opportunity for new members and the public to become acquainted with the techniques used in amateur astronomy.

Each nights observing will begin at 7.30pm. Please remember that these events are weather dependant and to dress accordingly with stout shoes and warm clothing suitable for a late nights viewing in a country location.

The observing sessions are organised by Gerry Bond.

The telescopes will be set up beside the children's play area near the car park entered from the B3030.

highlights

Mercury
The innermost planet has its best morning apparition of 2008 in late October. Look for it low in the east before dawn, especially on the 27th October when a slender crescent Moon will be close by

Uranus & Neptune
The outer two planets are well placed for spotting during September and October. You can follow their daily movements using binoculars. Finder charts can be found at Sky & Telescope
